The 2017 WaMaC conference tournament begins this afternoon taking place at South Tama High School for one half of the sixteen schools in the league. The other eight teams will be in Maquoketa for pool play. The 22-16 West Delaware Hawks received the second seed in Pool # 2. They will face 4-26 Maquoketa at 4:00, 10-22 Benton Community at 5:45 and Class 4A 27-9 CP-U around 8:00. We’ll have all the match coverage live on KMCH and KMCH.com with Sports Director Jon Swisher and Jamie Vaske.
We’ll also have updates from the other matches going on especially those featuring area coverage schools. Also in Maquoketa, Independence faces Vinton-Shellsburg at 4, Anamosa at 5:45 and Beckman at 8. Beckman will take on Anamosa at 5 and V-S at 6:30. Anamosa plays V-S at 7:15. At South Tama, Western Dubuque makes the long trip to compete with Central DeWitt at 4, South Tama at 5:45 and Marion at 8:00. Pool play consists of the best 2 of 3 sets to 21 with game 3 if necessary to 15. If matches are going quick, they will play ahead of the time schedule if possible. The top 8 teams from each site will advance to the championship side of bracket play on Thursday afternoon with the bottom 8 moving into the consolation bracket, with all schools competing at Marion High School.
