James V. “Vic” Clark – Independence

James V. “Vic” Clark, 84 of Independence, Iowa died Thursday morning, December 18, 2014 at the Arlington Place in Oelwein, Iowa.

Vic was born on March 22, 1930 near Lester, Iowa the son of Clarence W. and Adeline E. (Oxenford) Clark. He was raised in Glidden, Iowa and worked with his parents in their café. He was a 1947 graduate of the Glidden High School, and attended the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. On May 6, 1950 he was married to Shirley A. Conner in Glidden, Iowa and the couple made their home and farmed in the Independence and Rowley, Iowa area. During the winter months he worked for Collins Radio and with the Rowley Schools in Rowley, Iowa.

Vic enjoyed Music and Sports, playing football in high school, and officiating high school football games. He loved to help Shirley with household chores and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Shirley, three children; Terry (Kathy) Clark, Cambridge, IA, Barb (Harold) Schug, Rowley, IA, Julie (Chuck) Jennings, North English, IA, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a brother; Jerry Clark, Tucson, AZ.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter; Jody Elise Swaim, and two brothers; Charles and infant John Clark.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Presbyterian Church of Rowley, Rowley, Iowa with Rev. Lisa Thedens and Rev. Steve Bush officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Rowley Cemetery, Rowley, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 6:30 PM Friday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA.
