Jean S. Grimm – Marion

Jean S.(Fettkether) Grimm, 74, of Marion, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017, surrounded by her family at the Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.

 

Funeral services will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church of Marion at 11:00am Tuesday, August 8th, 2017. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Aurora, Iowa. Visitation will be 4-8 pm Monday, August 7th at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.

 

Survivors include, daughters, Amanda Buchan (Dean), of Austin, MN, Angela Hahn (Myron), of Cedar Rapids, and Amy Clubb (Josh), of Cedar Rapids.   Grandchildren, Andy(Samantha) Buchan, Isaak Hahn, Brevin Hahn, Kinsley Clubb, Rylann Clubb, Cohen Clubb A brother, Duane (Peggy) Fettkether, sister, Janis (Larry) Lerch. Great grandchildren, Aubrey and Daphne Buchan. Several nieces and nephews

 

Preceded in death by her former husband Loyd Diercksen, late husband Roger Grimm, and grandson, Braxton Hahn.

 

Jean was born on December 10, 1942 to Cyril and Ardelle Fettkether at the Delaware County Hospital in Manchester, Iowa.  She was raised on a farm outside of Masonville, and graduated from West Delaware High School in 1961.  After high school she attended Paris Beauty School in Cedar Rapids and graduated in 1962.  Upon graduation she returned to work on the family farm and also at a salon in Winthrop.  In 1964 she married Loyd Diercksen, to this union three daughters were born, Amanda, Angela and Amy.  She was the proud owner of Jean’s Salon and Styles in Strawberry Point from 1975 to 1985.  In 1985, they moved into a family home in Manchester, Iowa.  Upon retiring from Cosmetology, Jean worked for many years in retail management.  In 1996 she moved to Osage Beach, MO where she continued working in retail.  In 1999, she married Roger Grimm.  Jean and Roger enjoyed their time at the lake, owning their own liquor store and raising greyhounds.  They moved to Marion, Iowa in 2006.  Jean recently worked for Associates for Behavior Health, where she enjoyed helping people.

 

Jean led a very spirited life, she enjoyed cooking and finding new recipes to try.  She loved spending time with her family and always enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events.  Jean dedicated her life to making people feel special, loved and always welcomed.  We will forever remember and miss her infectious laugh and warm hugs.
