Raffling Off Purple Semi for Cancer Research

The Midwest Pride In Your Ride Truck and Tractor Show is just a month away – and there will be a very special raffle at this year’s event. A purple semi known as the “Longhaul Survivor” will be raffled off to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The semi is a completely restored 2000 Peterbilt – and it’s painted purple to honor cancer survivors. Eldon Jaeger of Worthington says it’s pretty unique.

Jaeger says they had a special reason for starting this project.

The semi has been seen all over the area in parades and at events, and it’s even made its way to other parts of the United States, including Texas and Las Vegas. Anyone has a chance to win the purple semi – you just need to purchase a ten-dollar raffle ticket. Over seven-thousand tickets had been sold within six months of the semi’s completion, with tickets sold to people as far away as North Africa and the Netherlands. Jaeger says the support for this project has been amazing and it’s much appreciated. He adds that all the proceeds from the ticket sales will go directly to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in the fight against cancer. The winner will be drawn at the Midwest Pride In Your Ride Truck and Tractor Show at the Tri-State Raceway in Earlville on Saturday, May 3rd. Tickets can be purchased at American Trust, Fidelity Bank and the Plaza Antique Mall, or you can contact Jaeger or send raffle ticket money to Midwest Pride In Your Ride at 304 1st Avenue East in Worthington.
