The front office of Manchester City Hall is getting renovated.
The current set-up has been in use for over twenty years, so city staff say it was in need of an update.
Most of the furniture and partitions have been removed to prepare for new paint, flooring and work stations. As progress got underway, they noticed some of the piping for the old radiators also needed to be removed before the new flooring was installed. The pipes were wrapped with asbestos and will need to be abated before being removed.
The estimated budget for the renovation is twenty-five thousand dollars.
City Hall plans to operate out of the City Council Chambers next door while the work is being done, which will likely be during Christmas break.
