Teen Dies from Injuries Sustained in Clayton County Crash

One of the teens injured in a crash in Clayton County last week has died.

16-year old Emma Hefel passed away on Thursday.

Hefel was one of three teens involved in an accident on Garber Road near Guttenberg Monday afternoon. The Iowa State Patrol says Hefel was a passenger in a car driven by 16-year old Amber Garlow of Holy Cross. The car went into the ditch and came to rest on its top before becoming engulfed in flames.

Garlow, Hefel and another passenger, 15-year old Lillian Horstman of Guttenberg, were taken to the hospital.

Funeral services for Hefel will be held this Wednesday at 10 am at St. Mary Catholic’s Church in Guttenberg.
