Anamosa Celebrating Pumpkinfest

It’s Anamosa Pumpkinfest this Saturday, October 7th.

And this year, the community is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Anamosa being declared “Iowa’s Official Pumpkin Capital” by the Iowa Legislature.

They invite you to enjoy the fun of a true Main Street Festival that includes pumpkin carving displays, a 5k run, kids’ games, food, arts and craft vendors, car show and the parade at 2 pm on Saturday.

But the highlight of Anamosa Pumpkinfest is the GIANT pumpkins, watermelons, and other gourds.

The giant gourds will begin arriving early Saturday morning and will be on display at the Lawrence Community Center (at 600 E Main Street) until 4 pm, with awards held at noon. Last year’s event featured a state record – and another record could be broken this year.
