Trial started Tuesday for a Ryan woman charged with fatally shooting her boyfriend two years ago.
Danielle Weiner is charged with First Degree Murder in the death of 27-year old Devon Hierrazuela of Oak Lawn, Illinois.
The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says Hierrezuelo was found dead at the Shady Acres Apartments on Belknap Street in Ryan in the early morning hours of February 8th, 2021. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Weiner had called 911 to report that her boyfriend had been shot – five minutes after a neighbor called 911 reporting an argument and gunshot. Weiner told authorities an unknown male had entered the apartment and had been arguing with Hierrezuelo in the kitchen/living room area when the shooting took place.
But the Sheriff’s Office says further investigation determined the victim had been shot in the bedroom and was then moved down the hallway to the kitchen/living room area. A bullet casing was found in the bedroom, as well as a handgun with blood on the end of the barrel. Authorities say there were no signs of forced entry into the apartment and no tire tracks in the fresh snow.
Weiner has pleaded not guilty. Her trial is being held in Dubuque County District Court.
