Manchester Chamber Brings Back Ridiculous Days

Over a thousand ping pong balls were dropped from the roof of F&M Bank in downtown Manchester on Thursday afternoon.

It was part of Ridiculous Days – a celebration the Manchester Chamber is bringing back to the community, in which businesses across town offer sales usually only seen once a year. Chamber Director Dave Wakefield says they couldn’t have asked for a better day on Thursday to kick it all off.

South Franklin Street was blocked off on Thursday afternoon, with free kids’ activities and businesses setting up sales outside along the sidewalks. And all across Manchester, businesses will be offering sales and specials through Saturday. Finery owner Natalie Mormann was enjoying the afternoon.

Jackie Mormann owns The Bread Basket a couple doors down.

Bushel & A Peck had a booth set up along South Franklin Street too. Sophia Aldrich came from Strawberry Point to help her grandpa, Dave.

Aldrich and her brother were among those who caught some ping pong balls as they were dropped from the roof of the bank at Thursday’s event.

The ping pong ball drop was a tradition decades ago – and the Chamber Retail Committee was excited to bring it back.

If you caught one of those ping pong balls that have a special deal written on them, you can redeem it at the listed business through the end of Ridiculous Days on Saturday.
