RMC Now Offering Inspire Therapy to Help Treat Sleep Apnea

Regional Medical Center in Manchester is now offering Inspire® Therapy, a breakthrough obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) treatment option, for those who cannot use Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy.

Sleep apnea is a potentially serious sleep disorder where the individual repeatedly stops and starts breathing while sleeping.

Inspire® Therapy works inside the body with a patient’s natural breathing process to treat sleep apnea. Mild stimulation opens the airway during sleep, allowing oxygen to flow naturally. The patient uses a small handheld remote to turn Inspire® on before bed and off when they wake up.

“In my practice, I see many patients who have stopped using or are unable to tolerate CPAP. Inspire represents a significant advancement in treating obstructive sleep apnea,” shares Dr. Thomas Heineman, RMC Visiting ENT Specialist with Physicians Clinic of Iowa. “We are very excited to offer this at Regional Medical Center. Currently our team is one of a handful of Inspire Excellence Centers in the country, which is determined based on our successful results.”

Although this procedure is new to RMC in Manchester, Dr. Heineman has successfully completed over 300 of these specialized surgeries, helping to improve the quality of sleep for these patients. Inspire® is safe, clinically proven and FDA approved.
