Maquoketa Valley Middle School Ranked 14th in Iowa

Maquoketa Valley Middle School has received a special honor.

The U.S. News & World Report recently published their ranking of public middle schools in Iowa, ranking Maquoketa Valley 14th out of all middle schools in the state.

In a letter to parents and families, Principal Troy Osterhaus says he is extremely proud of their teachers and staff and thankful for their students, adding that this would not be possible without the tremendous job their elementary staff is doing to prepare students for middle school.

Over the past few years, Maquoketa Valley has received several honorable rankings, with the highest honors coming in 2021 when Delhi Elementary ranked 4th, the high school ranked 6th and the middle school ranked 10th in the state. Maquoketa Valley Middle School was also named as a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School in 2020.

Principal Osterhaus says as a staff, they will continue to work hard and find ways to improve to meet the educational needs of their students in order to continue to be one of the best school districts in Iowa.
