Gala Committee Presents $80,000 to St. Mary School in Manchester

The proceeds from this spring’s St. Mary’s Gala will be giving the Manchester school a big boost.

Gala committee members Samantha Wulfekuhle and Amy Reeder presented the St. Mary’s School Board with two checks at their meeting earlier this week.

The first check – for nearly $70,000 – will go to St. Mary School. And the second check – in the amount of $10,000 – will be added to the Endowment Fund.

The St. Mary’s Gala held on March 5th featured an Italian theme of “That’s Amore”, with a meal catered by Annette Harbaugh, an online silent auction, live auction, 50-50 cash raffle, wine tasting and entertainment. This was the 15th year for the fundraising event.

Funds raised at the Gala help with general operational expenses of the school, keeping tuition rates at a lower cost while still being able to upgrade facilities. In recent years, Gala proceeds have been used to fund projects such as the purchase of new Math & Religious curriculum, the resurfacing of the school’s playground, and bathroom renovations.

Some of the proceeds of this year’s Gala are planned to be put towards adding coat & school bag hooks to the cafeteria, painting the ceilings in the main hallways upstairs, more safety wall pads in the gym and new stair treads.

The St. Mary’s School Gala Committee would like to thank everyone who contributed in any way. Be sure to save the date for next year’s “Kentucky Derby” themed Gala on Saturday, March 4th, 2023.
