Delaware County One of Highest Voter Turnouts in Iowa

Delaware County had one of the highest voter turnouts in the state for last month’s general election.

Secretary of State Paul Pate says Delaware County was one of eighteen counties that surpassed 60-percent total voter turnout. Clayton and Fayette counties did too.

Election turnout overall was the second highest in state history for a midterm election, with more than one-point-two million voters casting ballots.

The Iowa State Board of Canvassers have officially certified the election results. There are two Iowa House races still conducting recounts (including one in Linn County) and a third county needs to complete their recount canvass, so a special canvass for those three races, in House Districts 59, 73, and 81 will be held after the recounts are completed.

Secretary Pate says he’s very proud of Iowans for stepping up in high numbers once again. And he’d like to thank the county election officials and ten thousand poll workers across the state.
