Manchester Considering Speed Limit Increase on Stretch of East Main

The speed limit on a stretch of East Main Street in Manchester could be going back up.

City Manager Tim Vick says the City Council has heard from residents wanting the speed limit raised from Bailey Drive east to McCarren Drive.

Now that sidewalks have been installed along that portion of East Main Street, the Council is willing to revisit the speed limit. They have proposed to increase the speed limit from 25 mph to 30 mph on East Main from Bailey Drive east to McCarren Drive.

The Council discussed pushing it back up to 35 mph, but Vick says safety is a concern.

The Manchester City Council will consider the East Main Street speed limit ordinance at their next meeting on May 8th.
