Lucille E. Smock – Earlville

Lucille E. Smock, 99, of Earlville, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at MercyOne Senior Care in Dyersville, Iowa, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 14, 2023, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville. Funeral Service will take place on Monday, May 15, 2023, 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Delaware, Iowa, with Reverend Matthew Vesey officiating. The burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Earlville. Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Earlville is in charge of arrangements.

Lucille was born on November 28, 1923, in Scotch Grove Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Emma (Heeren) Bartels. She graduated from Monticello High School. Lucille married Merle Smock on October 28, 1955, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Monticello, Iowa; four children were born to this union. Lucille took great pride in raising her family. She was a very faithful woman, who attended church each week and was also a Sunday School and Confirmation Teacher. She enjoyed baking, spending time in her flower gardens, crocheting, doing embroidery, and listening to Lawrence Welk. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family and friends. Lucille always thought of others and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Lucille is survived by her children, Deb (Bob) Hutchcroft of Bellevue, Iowa, Dale (Louise) Smock of Earlville, Donna Bolsinger of Manchester, Iowa; grandchildren, Ryan (Nicole) Hutchcroft, Nicole (Mark) Brenny, Nick (Macy) Smock, Troy (Alexa) Smock, Sadie Bolsinger, Cole Bolsinger; and great-grandchildren, Xander, Ryder, Asher, Isabelle, Rilynn, Brooklyn, and Axl.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Emma Bartels; husband of 58 years, Merle Smock; son, Allen; and sister, Elinor Martin.
