City of Manchester Presents Awards to Community Members

The City of Manchester honored several community members with awards at their annual Boards and Commissions Open House on Wednesday night.

The City takes this opportunity to recognize the volunteers, employees and officials who help make Manchester a great place to live, work and play.

Mayor Connie Behnken presented the City’s Citizen award to the community’s newest group – the Manchester Vitality Endowment Committee. The group has had a busy and very successful first year – with their ideas and projects ranging from the Holly Jolly Market to the Christmas tree at Riverfront Park to the beautiful flower baskets that adorned the streets of downtown Manchester last summer. Committee member Dean Sherman:

The City’s Milt Kramer Leadership & Legacy Award was presented to West Delaware Superintendent Dr. Kristen Rickey, who will be retiring at the end of this school year.

And the City’s Distinguished Service Award was presented to longtime Manchester Fire Chief Mike Ryan, who retired in December after more than forty years of service (with his wife, Linda, and daughter, Deirdre, accepting on his behalf).
