Manchester United Methodist Church is changing its name.
The Iowa Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church held a special session a month ago to vote on proposed Disaffiliation Agreements between the Iowa Annual Conference and United Methodist local churches who were seeking to leave The United Methodist Church. More than eighty churches – including Manchester United Methodist Church – were voted to disaffiliate as of July 1st. Pastor Phil Rogers explains:
Starting Saturday, they’ll officially be a Global Methodist Church known as Manchester Methodist Church. Pastor Rogers says it’s been a difficult process, but they’re excited about joining something new.
Rogers says other than the name change, most everything else will stay the same.
