Ida Rose Wessels was born on January 7, 1932, in Petersburg. She married the love of her life, LaVerne Jerome Sabers, on August 30, 1950, in St. Boniface Church in New Vienna, Iowa. Together they were married 67 years. They were blessed with 10 children, 26 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.

Ida lived a faithful life with her family on farms in Delhi, Buck Creek, and Earlville. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville. Ida was a humble but proud wife, mother, grandma, greatgrandma, mother-in-law, neighbor, and friend that we were all blessed to have in our lives. Her favorite moments were enjoying time with her husband and family. She enjoyed being at home and kept busy over
the years with all the things it takes to raise a family of twelve. She loved everything she had to do.

Ida was a kindhearted, hard-working, sweet, dedicated Mom that will be forever loved and missed by her children, Barb (Doug) DeShaw, Pat Sabers (Randy Burkle), Loras Sabers (DeeAnn Sullivan), Bob (Kathy) Sabers, Jane Hendricks (Ric Hillers), Joyce (Brian) Moorman, Ron Sabers, Laurie Sabers; sonsin-law, Chris Roling and Kelly Salow; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and five sisters-inlaw.
Ida will be reunited with her husband, LaVerne Sabers; two daughters, Carolyn Roling and Mae Salow; and her parents, Ed and Dorothy Wessels; in-laws, Joseph and Elizabeth Sabers; a son-in-law, Dale Feldman; and four brothers.

A special thank you to Jill Bushman, Mary Kaye Tucker, Melissa Hutchison, Jan Rude, Tri County Care, Above and Beyond Hospice, and all who helped care for Mom during this time. Also, a special thanks to the St. Joseph’s Parish communion distributors. Receiving communion every Sunday meant so much to Mom. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.
