Dyersville Announces Development Plans for New Child Care Center

A new child care center is coming to Dyersville.

The child care center will be developed in the 20 West Industrial Park on the southwest side of town. The Kid Project, run by the Dyersville Area Community Foundation, will operate the new center and eventually own the facility.

Readily available child care is an issue in many communities – and Dyersville is one of them – with the issue creating an additional strain on employers and employees with young children. Recent studies cite several workplace barriers related to child care issues.

A matching Future Ready Iowa Grant in the amount of $1.75 million was awarded to Dyersville Economic Development Corporation and a consortium of employers to address the need for more child care spaces in Dyersville.

Local organizations, led by Dyersville Economic Development Corporation and Dyersville Area Community Foundation, will be hosting a press conference on Thursday, August 17th. The new center’s naming partner will be unveiled at the event, which will take place at the center’s future location at 2365 Industrial Parkway Southwest. Conceptual plans for the new center will be on display, along with recognition of several lead gifts that have already been pledged to the project. The event will serve as the kickoff to the public phase of the campaign.

Dave Schroeder, a long-time director on both the Dyersville Economic Development Corporation and Dyersville Community Foundation’s board, is serving as the Campaign Chair for the project. Schroeder says the enthusiasm and level of support the lead donors are committing is a clear reminder that Dyersville and its people care deeply about the quality of life for future generations.
