West Delaware Building Project Wrapping Up as Students Return for New School Year

School starts Wednesday for the West Delaware School District – and students will notice more building changes when they return.

Superintendent Dr. Kristen Rickey says they’re excited to welcome everyone back.

After more than a year of construction updates, Dr. Rickey says they’ve been finishing up work at the middle school and high school.

But the main focus over the summer has been construction at Lambert Elementary – though Rickey says the work is pretty far along compared to where the middle school and high school were when the school year started last year.

When students arrive on the first day of school, they can use the main entrance area at both the middle school and Lambert – but they won’t be able to go into the offices yet. The offices should be finished by the third week in September – but until then, temporary office space is set up, with signs directing you to the right place. Rickey says West Delaware staff will be positioned at the main entrances on Wednesday to help direct students where to go.

She says it’s a good feeling to know they’re getting close to the end of the project.

The West Delaware building project should be wrapped up in another month or two, at which time they’ll schedule an open house for the community.
