Volunteers Needed to Harvest Squash Near Masonville for Food Bank

Volunteers are needed to help harvest squash near Masonville this Saturday.

The Lindsay family, along with Tracy Blackmer of “Gardening for Good”, are seeking volunteers to harvest two acres of squash. As in years past, all of the squash has been grown for donation to the Northeast Iowa Food bank in Waterloo.

Volunteers are asked to be at the plot at 9 am. The squash field is located just east of 3389 208th Street, Masonville. (Buchanan-Delaware Avenue is not a through street, so please come from Highway 187 – that’s the Lamont exit on Highway 20.)

This is a chance to be outdoors to help harvest locally-grown produce and help fight hunger here in northeast Iowa. All ages are welcome and no experience is necessary. Buckets, tools and sunscreen will be provided, along with water and cookies.
