Buchanan County Conservation Hosting Fall Kayak Tour on Wapsi River

Buchanan County Conservation is giving you a chance to get a new perspective of the Wapsipinicon River this weekend.

They’ll be hosting “Wapsi through the Seasons: Fall Kayak and Wright Tour” on Saturday, October 15th from 9 am until noon.

Participants will meet at Iron Bridge Access southeast of Independence for the float to Cedar Rock State Park. There will be several stops along the way to learn about plants and animals and  physical aspects of the river – plus you’ll get a tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Walter House at Cedar Rock State Park.

Cost is five dollars per person, which includes the use of a kayak, life vest, and paddle. Participants should bring insect repellent, snacks and drinks, and a change of clothes. Transportation between accesses will be available. Children 10 and up should be accompanied by an adult. You can register online at buchanancountyparks.com.
