Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) has placed President Herbert H.J. Riedel, Ph.D., on administrative leave from his position.
The community college’s board held a special meeting on Monday and voted to immediately place Riedel on administrative leave.
Riedel told the Dubuque Telegraph Herald he did nothing unlawful, unethical or immoral and is willing to return to the job. The agenda for the community college’s board of trustees shows they discussed a personnel matter with the college’s human resources director and reviewed an employee complaint.
During this period, NICC says the college remains committed to maintaining its normal operations and upholding its mission of serving their students and community. David Dahms, NICC vice president for finance and administration, says they understand the importance of stability and leadership during this time and will provide more information in the days to come.
Riedel was hired last year, replacing Dr. Liang Chee Wee.
