Lt Governor visits Delhi

Lt Gov Adam Gregg paid a visit to Delhi Monday, a guest of the community to witness what state money can do. The number 2 in the Hawkeye State was there to visit Off the Hoof and Roast and Toast, two thriving businesses that got their start through a small investment by the city.

That’s Greg Preussner, the former mayor of Delhi, who was in office at the time this all began. That walk around by members of the Iowa Economic Development Alliance pointed out a number of issues.

By a chance stop for lunch in Kentucky, Preussner was introduced to Off the Hoof, who became interested in the idea of adding an operation in Delhi. They had interest and a growing number of potential investors, but as Delaware County Economic Development Executive Director Donna Boss said, the buildings were less than ready.

The end result was the deconstruction of the existing structure, the building of new and a new breath given to the Delhi community.

As Lt Gov Adam Gregg toured the two establishments, members of the community told the story, leaving Gregg thoroughly impressed.

Greg said Delhi is a great example to other Iowa communities to look toward, but just one of several in his tenure in Des Moines
