Linn County Mental Health Access Center Now Open 24/7

Those experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis can now receive services anytime in Linn County.

The Linn County Mental Health Access Center has expanded its hours to 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year – without an appointment. The new expanded hours officially took effect December 1st.

Anyone 18 and older – not just Linn County residents – can receive services at the Linn County Mental Health Access Center. Patients can be brought to the center by loved ones or come on their own. They can also be brought in by law enforcement or mobile crisis teams. The Access Center is located at 501 13th St. NW in Cedar Rapids.

In fiscal year 2023, the Linn County Mental Health Access Center served more than 1,200 patients, including over one hundred people who were brought to the center for help through law enforcement referrals instead of being taken to jail or the hospital.

Mental Health Access Center Director Erin Foster says they have been working toward this milestone since first opening their doors two and a half years ago.
