Donald Digmann- Hopkinton

Donald Digmann 88, of Hopkinton died Wednesday March 6, 2024, at Good Neighbor Home, Manchester.

Donald Henry Digmann, was born April 26, 1935 at Hopkinton Iowa.  He was the son of Frank and Mary Wieferich, Digmann.   Don graduated from the Hopkinton High School.  He worked for the Feed Mill in Hopkinton grinding feed until he went to the Army.  Don served in the Army from 1958 until 1959, where he was stationed in Okinawa operating a milk rehydration plant. Don started farming with his brother Jack on his return from service.  He married Mary Ann Lahr on March 5, 1962, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manchester.  The couple purchased the Eike farm in 1966 and later the Freeze farm in 1969. They retired from farming in 1998.

Don was active off the farm as well.  He played town team baseball until he was 30.  He was an avid bowler, even while in the Army.  He also enjoyed fishing and hunting deer and turkeys.  After they were married Don and Mary Ann played couples softball.  They also enjoyed going to blue grass festivals.  They wintered in Texas for 20 years.  Don had served on both the Beef and Pork Producer boards.

Surviving are his 3 children, Chris (Michael) Alger, Tom Digmann and Tim Digmann, 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Luvern Digmann and Jack Digmann.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Ann, and his sister, Helen Sperfslage and several sisters and brothers-in-law.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 Tuesday morning, March 12, 2024, at St. Luke Catholic Church, Hopkinton with interment in the Hopkinton Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 until 7 Monday at the church and again on Tuesday from 9:00 until 10:00.  A vigil service will be held at 4:00 on Monday to start the visitation.
