MV Individual Events Speech Team Results

The Maquoketa Valley Individual Events Speech Teams completed their contest season on Saturday at Hampton-Dumont High School.

Coaches say both the 10th through 12th and the 9th grade teams performed very well at the state contest.

All five events on the 9th grade team received a Division 1 including Sellah Ambundo (Solo Musical Theatre), Lucy Hucker (Storytelling and After Dinner Speaking), Shane Lambert (Prose), and Sam Howes (Acting).

The 10th through 12th grade team received 29 Division 1 ratings. They include McKenna Bush (Review and After Dinner Speaking), Lily Huber (Radio News and Poetry), Allison Hogan (Prose), Nicholas Otting (Poetry), Joellen Beitz (Prose), Matthew Schaul (Spontaneous Speaking), Alissa Bush (Review and Literary Program), Chantel Crowley (Radio News), Morgan Clemen (Storytelling), Taylor Saunders (Radio News and Storytelling), Sebastian Charles (Literary Program), Addie Hucker (After Dinner Speaking), Arianna Nolan (Original Oratory and Acting), Jocelyn Kelchen (Expository), Maya Smith (Review and Public Address), Josie Teymer (Acting and Expository), George Livingston (Acting and Spontaneous Speaking), Kaitlyn Nolan (Solo Musical Theatre and Expository), and Toby Grimm (Improvisation). Jocelyn Kelchen acquired a Division 2 in her storytelling.

All-State nominations will be announced late this afternoon. Those students who make it to All-State will perform at UNI on Monday, March 25th.
