Fire destroyed a garage near Central City on Tuesday morning.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says several fire departments and emergency personnel responded to a report of a vehicle on fire in a detached garage at 4977 Sutton Road northwest of Central City shortly before 11 am. First responders to the scene found the 20-by-40 foot outbuilding fully engulfed in flames.
The owner, 92-year old Louise Bolton, told authorities she went to start her vehicle in the garage and heard a pop. She saw smoke coming from the vehicle and called for assistance.
The Sheriff’s Office says responding fire departments did an excellent job of keeping the fire from spreading to the home.
No one was injured in the fire. The garage and its contents are a total loss.
