Severe Weather Awareness Week

This is Severe Weather Awareness Week.

Delaware County Emergency Management, Iowa Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Management, the National Weather Service and Iowa Emergency Management Association are joining together to promote the week and encourage residents to prepare for the severe weather season.

Severe Weather Awareness Week is an opportunity to highlight the importance of being aware of, and prepared for, severe weather through a different focus each day:

  • Monday – Severe thunderstorms
  • Tuesday – Weather warnings
  • Wednesday – Tornadoes
  • Thursday – Family preparedness
  • Friday – Flash floods

The annual statewide tornado drill will take place this Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m. During this time, Delaware County will be conducting a test of the Alert Iowa system.

Delaware County Emergency Management Coordinator Mandy Bieber will join us on KMCH as our Guest of the Day on Thursday at 9:30 am to talk more about family preparedness.
