A fire destroyed a home northwest of Holy Cross on Monday night.
The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to 28159 Thunder Road shortly after 6:30 pm for a report of a structure fire. Fire departments from Holy Cross, Farley, New Vienna, Sherrill and Guttenberg also responded to the scene.
All residents had evacuated by the time crews arrived, but the back half of the house was on fire. The fire appears to have been caused by a gas grill outside the home – it is not considered to be suspicious.
The Sheriff’s Office says the house and its contents appear to be a total loss, estimated at $500,000.
No one was injured.
