Maquoketa Valley and Ed-Co will be looking for a new superintendent.
Dave Hoeger has announced he is retiring from his position leading the two school districts. He has led the Maquoketa Valley School District for the past four years and the Ed-Co School District for one year.
In a letter to parents, Hoeger says after 35 years in education, he has reached the age of retirement in Iowa and is eligible for his IPERS pension. He explored superintendent positions in Wisconsin and was recently chosen as the next superintendent of the Southwestern Wisconsin School District, serving the communities of Keiler and Hazel Green, Wisconsin.
Hoeger says this was not an easy decision for him because he has truly enjoyed serving as the superintendent at Maquoketa Valley, North Linn and Ed-Co.
He’ll begin his new position in Wisconsin on July 1st.
