Coggon Motorcyclist Airlifted to Hospital after Deer Collision

A motorcyclist from Coggon was injured in a collision with a deer on Tuesday.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office says 89-year old William Vosdingh was traveling northbound on Buffalo Creek Boulevard shortly before 2 pm when he struck a deer that had run onto the road. The impact caused him to be thrown from his motorcycle. 

Vosdingh was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. The Sheriff’s Office says his injuries are not known, but he is expected to recover. 

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Winthrop Fire Department, AMR Ambulance and LifeGuard Air Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation.
