John Joseph Crock – Manchester

John Joseph Crock, 65, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha.

He was born on December 27, 1958, in Springville, Illinois, the son of Donald and Mary Eileen (Fitzpatrick) Crock. His family moved to their farm near Masonville, Iowa, in 1967. John was raised and educated in the Masonville area and was a 1977 graduate of East Buchanan High School. John met the love of his life, Kelley Horton, on a blind date. They were united in marriage on September 10, 1988, in Dallas, Texas. In 2001, the family was blessed by the birth of Katie Rose. The family resides in Manchester. John was a lifetime farmer who loved working the land. John also had a passion for working on cars and was a used car dealer for many years in both Manchester and Masonville. John was a lifetime member of Immaculate Conception and St. Mary Catholic Churches. He was a longtime board member of Manchester Enterprises, Inc. He enjoyed watching car races and sporting events. John was a kind, warm-hearted man, who genuinely loved and cared for his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his friendly smile, lending hand, and generous heart.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 36 years, Kelley Crock of Manchester; his daughter, Katie Crock (special friend, Lukas Reinthaler) of Manchester; three siblings, Rosemary Crock (Linden Appel), Jo Ann Crock (Keith Whitlatch), and Jim Crock; father-in-law, Eddie Horton of Manchester; sister-in-law, Kim Horton (Mike Sheffield); several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, and his mother-in-law, Jimmie Horton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, Iowa, with Reverend Gabriel Anderson officiating.

Visitation: 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester, Iowa.

Interment: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester, Iowa
