Lawrence “Larry” G. Hills – Manchester

Lawrence “Larry” George Hills, 81, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. He was born on November 18, 1940, in Beloit, Wisconsin, the son of Herbert and Josephine (Fasanella) Hills. Larry was raised in Beloit and was a 1959 graduate of Beloit Catholic High School.

On October 21, 1972, Larry was united in marriage to Joyce Monaghan White in Rock Island, Illinois. Over the years, the family lived in Wisconsin and Iowa.  Larry worked as an engineer at Lefebure for 25 years and DAD Manufacturing until his retirement.

Larry was a faithful member of St. John Catholic Church in Delhi where he often volunteered as an usher. He was a member of the Elks Club and Delhi Lions Club. Larry and Joyce enjoyed living at Lake Delhi for over 25 years until moving to Manchester. Larry loved boating and fishing at the lake. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers. Larry enjoyed casinos, cards, and ice cream. He loved his family and attending family get togethers.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Joyce Hills of Manchester; three children, Don (Debra) Hills of Lutz, Florida, Charlotte Hills of Madison, Wisconsin, and Karen Hills (Kurt) Burdick of Janesville, Wisconsin; bonus daughter, Ann White of Marion; bonus son, Brando (Cally) Hills of Cedar Rapids; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Gena Hills of Las Vegas, Nevada; sisters-and brothers-in-law, Rita Hills of Wisconsin, Att Hills of Roscoe, Illinois, Donald (Lenay) Monaghan of Ramona, California, Dennis (Jerrie) Monaghan of Hedrick; MaryLee (Joseph) Praetz of Lake Ridge, Virginia, Kathleen (Bob) Monaghan of Lindenhurst, Illinois, and Thomas (Charlene) Monaghan of Mission Viejo, California; the mother of his children, Jeanne Hills of Madison, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Josephine Hills; parents-in-law, Eugene and Marcella Monaghan; and three brothers, Don Hills in infancy, John Hills, and Jim Hills; and many former 59’er classmates from Beloit Catholic High School.

Mass of Christian Burial:  11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at St. John Catholic Church in Delhi, Iowa.

Visitation:  4:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Monday, April 11, 2022, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester, Iowa, where there will be a 3:30 p.m. Rosary Service. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Tuesday.

Interment:  St. John Catholic Cemetery – Delhi, Iowa
