DOT Hosting Public Meeting on Highway 13 Reconstruction Project

Highway 13 north of Manchester will be undergoing a reconstruction project in two years.

And the DOT is holding a public meeting tonight to give you the opportunity to learn more about it.

Transportation Planner Sam Shea says they’re planning to completely reconstruct 13 just north of Manchester starting at Honey Creek and going north about nine miles, ending just south of the Highway 3 intersection.

Shea says that section of Highway 13 has just become difficult to maintain. The upcoming reconstruction project will make the road smoother with a wider base.

The Highway 13 project is expected to take place in 2024, with the DOT hoping to get it done in one construction season. And while the work is going on, there will be a detour in place.

You can learn more about the Highway 13 project and provide your feedback during a public meeting tonight. The meeting will take place at the Manchester Fire Station with an open house format, so you’re welcome to stop in anytime between 4 and 6 pm.

Or if you can’t make it to the meeting tonight, you can participate in the online meeting – that link will be going live around noon today, with a power point presentation and comment section. Just go to iowadot.gov – or Shea says it may be easier to just Google “Iowa DOT Public Meeting Delaware”.
