Emergency personnel rescued a Jones County Courthouse maintenance man who became trapped in the building’s elevator shaft on Friday.
The Jones County Sheriff’s Office says they were called the courthouse during the noon hour. Two deputies were able to access the elevator shaft through the basement elevator door. The maintenance man was partially entangled in the elevator cabling and pulley system.
Anamosa Police, Fire and Ambulance, along with Marion Fire, Lifeguard Air Ambulance and other elevator maintenance staff worked with the deputies to free the man.
He was transported to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics to be treated. His name and the extent of his injuries were not released.
