West Delaware Announces Plan to Make Up Snow Days

West Delaware will be adding a few minutes to their school day to make up for snow days.

Superintendent Dr. Kristen Rickey announced the plan to parents in a letter on Monday.

Rickey says they’re hoping not to add days to the end of the school year because they need every day they can possibly get for Phase 2 of their construction project at Lambert Elementary – so they’re trying to be creative and flexible with those make-up times while still meeting the needs of students and families.

Rickey says the reason they’re going that route instead of canceling West Delaware’s Wednesday early dismissals is because the teachers need that time for collaboration, professional development and planning.

West Delaware will make up the remaining two days of school on the already-scheduled make-up days, March 10th and April 6th. April 7th and April 10th are holiday/vacation days – with many people already having plans – so those will remain “no school” days.

Dr. Rickey is hoping the weather cooperates the rest of the school year. As of now, West Delaware’s last day of school is planned for May 26th.

West Delaware’s last day of school will be an early dismissal and follow the new Wednesday dismissal times of 1:30 pm for the High School and 1:40 pm for Lambert and Middle School.
