Lois Marie Bockenstedt age 92 of Strawberry Point, died Sunday, March 19, 2023 at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood. She was born January 27, 1931 to Klaus and Mary (Fisher) Bruns at Ackley, Iowa. Lois was raised in Strawberry Point by her mother and Morris McIntyre (step father).
Lois was united in marriage to Vernon Baumgartner on October 25, 1953. Two sons were born to this union. Together they farmed near Strawberry Point. Vernon died on June 16, 1990. Lois married Leo Bockenstedt on July 3, 1992. Together they resided east of Strawberry Point. Leo died September 1, 2009. Lois did child care and waitressing over the years.
She will be remembered as one who enjoyed gardening, baking, decorating cakes and traveling. She loved spending time with her family
Survivors include her son, James “Jim” (Karen) Baumgartner of Strawberry Point; four grandchildren, Jessica Helmrich of Coggon, Kyle (Kelly) Baumgartner of Strawberry Point, Matt (Sara Akers) Baumgartner of Yorba Linda, California, and Mitchell (Haley) Baumgartner of Marion; six great grandchildren, Blaine Baumgartner, Sullivan, Jensen and Harrison Helmrich and Kaysen, Breckin Baumgartner; and two sisters, Mary Kray of Strawberry Point and Agnes Kabir of Denver, Colorado.
Besides by her husbands, Vernon and Leo, Lois was preceded in death by her son, Joel Baumgartner in 2022; siblings; Elmer Bruns, Colleen Heuchelin and Robert McIntyre. Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Strawberry Point, Iowa is assisting the family.
Memorial services: 11 AM Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point.
Visitation: friends may call from 9AM until service time on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the church.
