No Major Property Damage in Rural Dundee Fire

Monday’s fire near Dundee didn’t result in any major property damage.

Firefighters were called to the Steve Francois property on 135th Street (intersecting 120th Avenue) early Monday afternoon for a ditch fire that spread into a field.

Dundee Fire Chief Jason Groskurth says an estimated 140 acres burned in the fire. Groskurth says the only property damage was to wooden fence posts, but the fire also came very close to utility pedestals.

No one was injured.

Delaware County Dispatch says fire departments from Dundee, Masonville, Manchester, Strawberry Point and Lamont responded to the scene.

Chief Groskurth says the cause of the fire is still under investigation as there were multiple spots burning along C-64 west of Dundee.
