Delaware County Announces June Primary Candidates

The filing deadline has passed for the June Primary – and Delaware County has announced its list of candidates who will appear on the ballot.

  • Jeff Madlom is running for the Republican nomination for re-election for Delaware County Supervisor District #1.
  • Dan Wheeler is running for the Republican nomination for Delaware County Supervisor District #2. The Supervisor seat is being left vacant by Pete Buschmann, who announced earlier this year he would not seek re-election.
  • Carla Becker is running for the Republican nomination for re-election for Delaware County Auditor.
  • Travis Hemesath is running for the Republican nomination for Delaware County Sheriff. The position is being left vacant by longtime Sheriff John LeClere, who is retiring.

The Primary Election will take place on Tuesday, June 4th.

The Delaware County Auditor’s Office says they can now start taking requests for absentee ballots. You can find those request forms on the County’s website at delawarecounty.iowa.gov. Requesters must designate the ballot style they would like to receive (Republican, Democratic or Libertarian). The County will begin mailing absentee ballots on May 15th, with in-house absentee voting also beginning that day.

We’ll take a look at the June Primary candidates in surrounding counties, as well as the state and federal candidates, in upcoming newscasts on KMCH.
