Dennis Charles Augustine – Strawberry Point

Dennis Charles Augustine, 76, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, at his home.

He was born on November 23, 1947, in Marshalltown, the son of Victor and Vivian (Nason) Augustine. Dennis was raised and educated in the Grundy Center area graduating with Class of 1966 at Grundy Center. After graduating from high school Dennis attended college at Northeast Missouri State, graduating in 1971 with a B.S. in Education. He received his master’s degree in administration in 1975. On June 14, 1980, Dennis was united in marriage to Patricia Lindgren in Mason City. Two children were born to this union. Dennis taught and coached football and wrestling for 23 years. Over the years he taught at Lawson, Missouri, where he started the wrestling program. Dennis then went to Oskaloosa followed by Mason City Newman and then Muscatine. The last twelve years he was the principal at La Porte City Union High School and Cardinal of Eldon. In January 2017, Dennis and Patricia moved to Strawberry Point. Dennis loved following the Kansas City Chiefs and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was an avid fisherman but loved most spending time with his family, especially attending all their events.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Augustine of Strawberry Point; his son, Michael (Molly) Augustine of Strawberry Point; his daughter, Sarah Augustine of Dysart; his two grandchildren, Gabe and Rylee Augustine; his three brothers, Victor ( Carol) Augustine of Corinth, Texas, David (Judy) Augustine of Lantana, Texas, and John (Josi) Augustine of Neenah, Wisconsin; his sisters-in-law, Connie (Dave) Ladwig of Cherokee, Karen (Bob) Ferris of Meriden, and Diane (Brad) Phipps of Cherokee; his many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Belle. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
