The Delaware County Pork Producers are hosting their annual “Bake It With Lard” Pie Contest & Auction this Saturday night.
Everyone is welcome to come out for a night of good food and entertainment as some of the best pie bakers in the county compete for the $100 grand prize. Even if you don’t think your pie is award-winning, you’re welcome to give it a try. Pork board member Shirley Helmrichs:
Pies can be entered between 4 and 6 pm on Saturday night at the Delaware County Fairgrounds Pavilion. Cash prizes are given to the top six place finishers – and Helmrichs says then the pies are auctioned off.
Last year’s pie auction raised over $30,000 with the money to be used for pork promotion, education, scholarships and other projects – with Doris McAllister of Worthington winning the 2023 contest with her pecan pie.

Come find out at the Delaware County Pork Producers’ “Bake It With Lard” Pie Contest and Auction this Saturday night at the Delaware County Fairgrounds Pavilion. A carved ham meal will be served at 6:30 pm, with tickets sold at the door. Tickets are $17 for adults, with kids 10 and under $6.
