Linn County Campgrounds Opening Friday

Linn County Conservation’s campgrounds are opening for the season on Friday.

The County has announced that modern campgrounds managed by the department will open for the season at 7 a.m. on April 12th.

Campgrounds opening include those at Buffalo Creek, Morgan Creek, Pinicon Ridge, and Wanatee Parks. Most all campground sites are first come-first served with self-registration (cash or check). Only the new A-loop at Buffalo Creek Park and A-loop at Wanatee Park can be reserved online. A majority of the campsites at these parks have water and electric hook-ups. A firewood bundle is available for purchase at each modern campground. Group camping opportunities are available at Morgan Creek and Pinicon Ridge Parks. The primitive (no water or electricity) Matsell Bridge Equestrian Campground will also open on Friday. The nearby Matsell Bridge Primitive Campground and the primitive campsites at the Wakpicada Natural Area are open year-round.

Before heading out, make sure to check out the available amenities, rules and regulations, as well as any other requirements by visiting the Camping page at LinnCountyIowa.gov/Conservation
