Update: Manchester Man Killed in UTV Collision Near Ryan

A Manchester man was killed when his UTV collided with a pickup southeast of Ryan on Friday afternoon.

The Iowa State Patrol says 39-year old Kyle Kelchen was driving a 2018 Polaris Ranger UTV southbound on 190th Avenue at approximately 2:18 pm when he failed to stop at a stop sign. His UTV was struck by a 2011 Chevy Silverado pickup heading eastbound on D-47.

Both vehicles ended up in the southeast ditch.

Kelchen died at the scene.

The Iowa State Patrol says the pickup driver, 67-year old Gerald Beitz of Monticello, and his passenger, 65-year old Susan Beitz of Monticello, were injured, but not transported to the hospital.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Ryan Fire Department and First Responders, Regional Medical Center EMS and Iowa DNR responded and assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

A UTV driver was killed in a collision southeast of Ryan on Friday afternoon.

It happened around 2:30 pm on County Road D-47 at the intersection with 190th Avenue. The Iowa State Patrol says a UTV was traveling south on 190th Avenue and failed to yield to a pickup truck heading east on D-47.

The driver of the UTV was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the driver of the truck was not hurt.

Names are being withheld until family has been notified.
