Congresswoman Ashley Hinson made a visit to Buchanan County earlier this week.
Hinson met with the Buchanan County Secondary Roads Department on Monday afternoon.
Over the past three years, Buchanan County has partnered with state agencies and Iowa State University to research ways to use waste plastics to strengthen road bases.
Hinson’s office says this innovative solution reduces costs and environmental impacts associated with road building – calling it a “win-win for the environment and taxpayers”.
