A brush fire led to a structure fire west of Coggon on Saturday afternoon.
Emergency personnel were called to 5857 Quality Ridge Road west of Coggon. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says deputies and firefighters discovered that the property owners, Todd and Dawn Carrothers, had a burn permit for brush and were burning north of a vacant house on the acreage.
The Carrothers told emergency personnel that the wind had come up and the fire spread to the vacant house.
The house was fully engulfed in flames when emergency personnel arrived and is a total loss.
No one was injured.
The Coggon Fire Chief reported that there was nothing suspicious about the fire.
