The Delaware County Fair kicks off today in Manchester. This year’s fair will include the Trace Adkins concert on Thursday night, VIP Night with Poison’s Bret Michaels on Friday night, the return of free carnival rides and a new and improved Demo Derby on Sunday. The week starts with 4-H and FFA judging, including Home Ec projects, the dog show and the horse show. The Delaware County Fair Parade is tonight at 7 o’clock. Manchester Fire Chief Mike Ryan, who helps organize the parade, says it’s always one of the week’s highlights.
The parade route will be the same as in the past – you can find the route on kmch.com. Line-up starts at 5:30 pm on Doctor Street. And while this year’s parade theme is “Make Some Noise”, you’ll notice tonight that the firetrucks will be silent. Ryan says they’re asking all emergency response vehicles to no longer blow their sirens during the parade.
Manchester firefighters will also be walking the parade route with their boots, collecting money for the MDA. After the parade around 10 pm, you can watch the fireworks from the Delaware County Fairgrounds. Fair Manager Jeannie Domeyer says they’re best seen from the grandstands.
Admission to the fair today is free. You can find more information about this week’s Delaware County Fair online at delawarecofair.com. And we’ll be keeping you up to date with all the fair’s happenings all week long here on KMCH.
