Osborne Nature Center’s O.W.L.S. Program

The next Older, Wiser, Livelier, Souls (O.W.L.S.) program will be on Thursday, September 21st. This year’s theme is “Iowa, Then and Now”, with a visit to the Delaware County Historical Museum in Hopkinton.

Participants should meet at Osborne Park near Elkader to leave at 10:15 am and carpool to the destination.

The museum is on the grounds of the former Lenox College and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Lennox College was built in 1856 and was the oldest Presbyterian College in Iowa. Highlights include the Civil War Monument dedicated to the “School-Boy
Company” of all 92 students, a one-room school and the Farm Machinery Hall.
