Kids in kindergarten through 5th grades are invited to attend “Invent It” at the James Kennedy Public Library in Dyersville on Tuesday, July 22nd at 10 am. There will be all sorts of “stuff” for kids to glue, staple, tape, cut and alter to make the perfect invention. Registration required but walk-ins will be welcome if space allows. Bird Hike at Backbone State Park

Join Backbone State Park for a birding program and bird hike on Saturday, July 19th from 8 to 10 am. If possible, bring along binoculars and a bird field guide and wear sturdy shoes (they’ll have binoculars and field guides at Backbone too). “River Critters and Wildlife” Program and Hike

The public is invited to a special “River Critters and Wildlife” program and hike beginning at 10 am on Saturday, July 19th at the Delaware County Nature Center in Manchester. Dr. Jim Pease will tell tales about unique critters and wildlife that live in and along the Maquoketa River in Delaware County. Bill Foreman Benefit Ride

July 19

A Benefit Ride will be held for Bill Foreman on Saturday, July 19th. Bill was diagnosed in February with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma with cancer in his kidney and bone marrow. All donations collected will go to Bill and his family to help with mounting medical and living expenses due to him working very reduced hours. Registration for the Benefit Ride will be held from 9 to 10 am at the new Shack Tavern, with kickstands up at 10 am.…

Camp Invention

July 14 - 18

Camp Invention will be held July 14 – 18th at Lambert Elementary in Manchester. This week-long summer camp is for 1st through 6th graders and uses science, technology, engineering and math in a fun and creative way. Local educators assist students in building prototypes, taking apart electronics and upcycling for a new invention.
