Manchester Names Davis as New Police Chief

Mayor's Appointment Pending Approval from City Council

The City of Manchester has found their next police chief.

Ben Davis has been offered the position to lead the Manchester Police Department, replacing Jim Hauschild, who will be retiring next month.

Mayor Connie Behnken, who appoints the chief, says Davis has accepted the position, though his hire still needs to be approved by the Manchester City Council before it’s official.

Davis currently serves as the Fayette Police Chief. Behnken says she has no doubt he’ll do an excellent job in Manchester.

The City received around ten applications for the position, with the field narrowed down to three finalists – Ben Davis, Sheldon Police Chief Scott Burtch and Manchester Police Captain Chad Wright.

With the Council’s approval, Davis is expected to begin in his new position as Manchester Police Chief around May 28th – just a few days before Chief Hauschild’s retirement on May 31st. Mayor Behnken says he will be missed.

An open house is planned for Chief Hauschild – we’ll keep you posted.
